Rizal in Barcelona, Spain

16 June 1882 At 12:00 noon, Rizal arrived at Barcelona and boarded in the Fonda De España.

23 June 1882 In a letter, Rizal related to his parents his experiences during his trip from Port Said to Barcelona. In the same Letter, he requested them to send him a birth certificate and statement showing that he had parents in the Philippines. 18 August 1882 P. Leoncio Lopez of Calamba issued a certified copy of Rizal’s birth certificate. 20 August 1882 His article "Amor Patrio" was published in the Diarong Tagalog, a Manila newspaper edited by Basilio Teodoro. This was the First article he wrote abroad.
